Procure Plus, a leading procurement consultancy in the social housing sector, has announced the appointment of Simon Fowler as its new independent chair.
Simon brings a wealth of experience to the role, having worked for almost 35 years at the John Lewis Partnership, where he served as the group director of communications.
Commenting on his appointment, Simon said: “I am delighted to join Procure Plus as its new independent chair. I have long admired the work that the organisation does to support the social housing sector and I am excited to be part of a team that is making a real difference to communities across the UK.”
Fowler’s appointment follows the departure of Professor Michael Brown CBE DL as chair, following the completion of a successful term in office, during which the organisation experienced sustained growth and development.
“We are extremely grateful to Michael for his leadership and commitment during his tenure as Chair,” said Gwen Beeken, Managing Director of Procure Plus. “He has been a driving force behind the success of our organisation, and we are thankful for his contributions. We wish him all the best for the future.”
In addition to his remarkable career at John Lewis, Simon is also chairman of Aquascot Limited – one of Scotland’s largest employee-owned businesses, a director at The Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, an executive mentor at Be the Business, and a director of Merchant Taylors’ School.
With his track record of delivering substantial sales and profit growth, Simon is well-placed to support Procure Plus in achieving its strategic objectives. Simon played a significant role in the transformation of both John Lewis Flagship shops in Chelsea and the West End of London, achieving record levels of customer satisfaction and employee engagement along the way
“We are thrilled to have Simon on board as our new independent chair,” added Gwen Beeken. “His extensive experience in the retail sector and expertise in governance, risk and crisis management will be invaluable to us as we continue to grow and develop as an organisation.”
Simon takes up his new role with immediate effect and will work closely with the Procure Plus Board and executive team to drive the organisation forward.
