Last year 700+ people were employed, and 90% sustained beyond 6 months. We strive to make a difference and support those with barriers to work and within the construction industry, this includes working with women who want a trade through our work programme, Women and Manual Trades (WaMT). Initially to support this work, we are recruiting for a Training and Employment Manager to join us working across the North of England. The ideal candidate will be comfortable collaborating with stakeholders at all levels to create a network of willing construction employers and links with other interest groups to share knowledge and promote success. Working with colleges, training providers and their female students for “on the tools” trade roles to create more and new pathways for women these jobs thus creating a more balanced workforce that reflects the diversity of our communities.
You will bring to the team a willingness to learn and share best practise from your experience so far. You will be a problem solver and a team player who can work efficiently without close supervision and be self-organised on a day-to-day basis to ensure that you are creating opportunities and meeting the targets agreed. You will a strong networker who will gain access to decision makers and be persuasive and persistent.
You should understand the personal barriers that women face if they are choosing a trade role and how they can be supported. Have experience of being successful in breaking down barriers and prejudice in male dominated professions and the ability to change perceptions. Be aware of construction training and how this is delivered.
