Onsite Experience Hubs – Wales

Between 2021 and 2025 the CITB aim to increase the construction talent pool in Wales through Onsite Experience hubs, creating a talent pipeline to meet the needs of local construction employers and enabling construction career opportunities for people from local communities. £4m of funding has been approved to enable over 2,100 people to become employment and site-ready, and at least 1,200 people, many in remote communities, to secure sustained employment.

Onsite Experience hubs are designed to provide a one-stop recruitment solution for construction employers. By linking together employers, training providers, local authorities, community agencies and other partners, hubs enable the development of employment and site-ready people from local communities. Procure Plus works with the CITB to identify candidates who would benefit from access to the programme and RebeccaTucker is one such candidate.

“I've liked doing it all trying out new trades and meeting new people and learning from them. Doing the training and the work experience has really been good for me, as I know in the future I can do a lot more things in life and I’d be able to say I've had that experience before and I can do it.

Going forward, I'd be looking to do more work in construction as I've really enjoyed the whole experience that Adra and the
OSE has given me”

Rebecca’s Story

Rebecca was a cleaner for Haven last year (2023). When she was advised thatAdra, a housing provider in North Wales was running Onsite Experience sessions she wanted to try something different and get a bit more experience on a construction site. With training co-funded by Procure Plus, Rebecca covered her H&S Level 1, herCSCS touchscreen test including manual handling, first aid training, Pasma, COSHH and fire marshalling.

Procure Plus works with a variety of delivery partners to support people on their journey to employment. Our long experience means we know the sector inside-out. We’re owned by social housing providers and our board members all come from the landlords that we serve – housing is in our DNA. And we’re not-for-profit, so any surplus we make goes straight back into our communities to train and develop people who find themselves distanced from the employment market. Over the last five years, we’ve helped more than 2,500 people into work.
